GDM forcibly logs out the user after entering sleep mode/switching TTY

How can I prevent this? Every time I close my laptop's lid every program forcibly closes and the current session is closed.

It is due to a bug in the recent update of mutter to 40.2-1. Downgrade to the previous 40.1-2 until the pending fix is released. See this other post.
