KDE's external device mounting tray app is misbehaving

Since some days ago when I unmounted an sdcard, it was still available in the KDE's external device mounting tray app.
So I was able to remount it if necessary.
Now when I unmount the sdcard, it disappears from the app and so I have to open dolphin to mount the device.
Is the same happening to you?
What is the archlinux package that contains that app (so that I can try to revert)?

Re: KDE's external device mounting tray app is misbehaving

I think this issue may have arisen with Plasma Desktop 5.22.1-1 and plasma-framework 5.83.0-1 - I realised that if I plug in a usb external drive after logging in it opens a window to offer to mount the drive - once you then right click to select to umount the drive - plugging in the same usb drive, or any other usb drive, no window then pops up to offer to mount it.  If you logout and back in then plugging in an external usb drive works normally again. So this looks like a bug in the latest plasma, or frameworks set of packages.  If a bug upstream has not yet been opened then a bug report should be put in.

Edit: I added a comment to the upstream bug at https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=438478

Re: KDE's external device mounting tray app is misbehaving

In the absence of any quick fix upstream does anyone know of a workaround to be able to mount more than one external drive in succession during a single plasma login session?

Another upstream bug for the same issue is at https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=438874

With the update to kde-applications 21.04.3-1 this seems to be fixed.

Re: KDE's external device mounting tray app is misbehaving

OK - maybe I was just lucky as I used a different usb drive to previous tests - and it may have a different partition structure.  I have seen reports that whether the problem exists depends on how the drive is formatted.

Edit: I went back to trying two external usb ssds that I had used previously for the test - each of those has a single ext4 partition - and the original problem is still there in that once one has been mounted, dismounted and physically unplugged, then the second drive plugged in to usb does not lead to a Disks & Devices pop-up offering to mount the drive, but the same can can be mounted from Dolphin.  The drive I tried that did work had multiple partitions and can be unmounted and then when physically plugged back in the Disks & Devices pop-up offers a mount. So the bug is still there and needs fixing.

Re: KDE's external device mounting tray app is misbehaving

It looks like this will be fixed when plasma-desktop 5.23 is released.

Edit: Confirmed fixed in 5.23
