playing a game freezes my computer

So I installed teardown on steam and Proton GE and played the game about 3 minutes, then the game freezes, my monitors go off (not like turn off, they lose connection to the pc), come back on, now the whole pc is frozen and there are green pixels in random spots on both monitors, they go back off, come back on, now they're rainbow pixels, I decide it's a lost cause and restart the pc. The drivers I'm using are from this command: sudo pacman -S lib32-mesa vulkan-radeon lib32-vulkan-radeon vulkan-icd-loader lib32-vulkan-icd-loader. Using am AMD Radeon RX 5700 xt. THIS IS NOT MY GPU DYING. This doesn't happen in Windows, I'm guessing it's a driver issue or something. Newly installed arch system.

Not sure if this happens in other games, if I try now and it does happen I'll have to write all of this again so I'll edit the post if it does happen, I'll try a 3d game like teardown is.

EDIT - okay I've been playing cluster truck on max settings (3d, 1st-person, just like teardown) for 30 minutes so far, 0 issues , running perfectly. Maybe just an issue with teardown, but that seems like a very weird possibility.
Yes I made sure Arch is updated.

Radeon RX 5700 XT
Ryzen 5 3600
16GB DDR4 RAM
msi b450 tomahawk max

Re: playing a game freezes my computer

Please don't bump, edit your post unless nobody has replied.
Also use code tags for I/O and file contents, https://bbs.archlinux.org/help.php#bbcode

And post the complete system journal - the segment is indicative of the GPU not recovering after a crash, but there's no indication of why it crashes to begin with.

THIS IS NOT MY GPU DYING.

Looks like the writings on the wall of an asylum tongue

The drivers I'm using are from this command

I guess it would be more interesting whether you're using xf86-video-amdgpu - unless one of the games uses vulkan and the other doesn't.

Try passing

amdgpu.dc=0 amdgpu.dpm=0 amdgpu.aspm=0 amdgpu.runpm=0 amdgpu.bapm=0

to the kernel - if the system "doesn't boot™" at all w/ this, remove "amdgpu.dc=0"
The rest is power saving stuff (that you turn off)
https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/Kernel_parameters - use the bootloader commandline.

Re: playing a game freezes my computer

uh, sorry, im confused: how do I access the bootloader commandline? Do I need to plug in my arch install USB and do something from there?

Re: playing a game freezes my computer

No. See the linked wiki.
It depends on what the bootloader (eg. grub, systemd-boot, …) actually is.

Re: playing a game freezes my computer

alright, I went in and held down-arrow until I was below all the other stuff written out that I didn't want to mess with, I just wrote what you put in, it booted normally, this may sound stupid, but does the command I put need to be in line with all the other commands? It looked like all the other ones had "TAB" pressed before the command was written but I just went to the bottom of the list and wrote it because "TAB" didn't work and pressing space several times just felt like the wrong thing to do. Also, there didn't seem to be a "save" button or command so after writing the thing I just hit F10 and booted into arch if that's normal.

Re: playing a game freezes my computer

What?

You can check whether you applied the parameters

cat /proc/cmdline

They're transient by nature when added at the bootloader shell, there's nothing to save.
You test them and if it helps you can add them to the bootloader config.

Re: playing a game freezes my computer

I ran that command and it gave me something that looks completely unrelated:

BOOT_IMAGE=/boot/vmlinuz-linux root=UUID=12e55965-50dd-4e82-83eb-be6a7570c67b rw loglevel=3 quiet

Re: playing a game freezes my computer

That's not unrelated, that's the kernel command line where you're supposed to add the parameters.
What's your bootloader?

Re: playing a game freezes my computer

gnu grub, I went to the screen where I choose to either boot into arch, boot with advanced settings, or go to UEFI settings, I pressed "e", scrolled down with the down arrow to empty space to add stuff, and added what you told me to put.

Re: playing a game freezes my computer

No, not empty space. The line that ends w/ "loglevel=3 quiet" - append them there.

Re: playing a game freezes my computer

I see, my bad. okay so I put all that business in, it didn't boot like you said, something about "not found" so I went back and typed it back exluding the first thing, and now it boots, cat /proc/cmd shows what I put as well. Is there another thing to do or should this fix my issue?

Re: playing a game freezes my computer

Whether this helsp with your situation is what you're supposed to figure - again: the log section you provided doesn't say at all *why* the GPU crashes. DPM is just one of the usual suspects.

That includes the tail of a kernel backtrace.
Again: post the entirew journal an also again: use code tags.

these color codes better work

edit: sorry forgot a bit, it does the failed to initialize parser -125 schpiel a couple more times.

not sure why the colors stopped working after I turned it into the code format

Re: playing a game freezes my computer

No, he meant code tags .

https://bbs.archlinux.org/help.php#bbcode , scroll down until you see CODE.

Edit : you found them.

That journal output is still missing stuff, did you run the command as root ?

Re: playing a game freezes my computer

Don't think I did, I ran the command and hit "END" on my keyboard to take me down to the bottom when the crash happened to get better information. The full journal is over 2,000 pages anyways, should I post all that code?

Re: playing a game freezes my computer

As root , run

SYSTEMD_LESS=FRXMK journalctl -b some-negative-number

Using -1 will give the log from the previous boot , -2 2 boots back etc.
see [1] for details

large outputs are usually uploaded to  a pastebin service .

Re: playing a game freezes my computer

sorry for confusing you, you need to replace some-negative-number with the real number.

example :

SYSTEMD_LESS=FRXMK journalctl -b -1
