openoffice breaks when exporting docs to pdf

I'm using openoffice 2.0.3-1. Whenever i try to export  a ms-word .doc to pdf it just freezes or tells me that there is a problem and it will try to save my open files and then freezes.

i've just discovered it doesn't save docs either :s
