Can I install EOL kernels such as 5.8 or 5.9? kernels above 5.9 break my audio, I tried a lot of things, I think 5.10 dropped support for my motherboard.

Do you mean install an older version of the linux or linux-lts package or building the kernel locally? Do you need any out of tree modules? Have you considered linux-lts54?
What is the motherboard and audio module you are having issues with?

Not sure what a audio module is, i have a g-41m vs3 motherboard from ASRock and i use the onboard audio output, i put a jack cable from my monitor to my output jack port and i have audio. Yes i want to install linux59 and linux58 as backup kernels, I am running linux-lts54. Also i don't need any of the tree modules.

Post the lspci output.
Out of tree modules are kernel modules that are not distributed along the kernel, most prominently the nvidia blob, but also virtualbox, a bunch of wifi drivers…
Edit: also don't make definite statements if you don't actually know what you're saying. You make things harder for everyone.

I said it straight forward that I want to install a EOL kernel, specifically 5.9 and 5.8, I don't think I said wrong.

This is not about your initial question.
loqs asked you about a relevant prerequisite and you responded with a definitive statement and then admitted that you actually don't understand what you claimed.
This is predictably going nowhere…

Nice nick.
As to the original question: you can install pretty much anything >=4.4. Lower than that and missing syscalls will break glibc and other things.

There're actually more traps w/ even more recent kernels.
Notably reg. zstd for the initramfs and w/ nvidia/nvidia-utils you'd probably run into the glibc break if you'd only downgrade kernel, module and utils from the ALA. (Should™ not be an issue w/ 5.9 directly, though. "iirc")

It's also not sufficiently clear to me in what way "broke my audio" manifests itself. There's a lot that would have to happen before a working audio codec is dropped for "no reason" and it might be more fruitful to formulate an actual bug report if that is indeed the case, instead of installing outdated and unmaintained kernels.
What I am suspecting is happening is that 5.10 mislabels their chipset and tries to load sof modules, which would be a
options snd-intel-dspcfg dsp_driver=1in /etc/modprobe.d/ away to fix.

By the way, when I searched for the audio issues with 5.10 and that mainboard I found this: https://forum.manjaro.org/t/sound-probl … 9/71373/39

Hello, I want to downgrade the core package "Linux" from version 5.12 to 5.4, could anyone help me? The 5.12 kernel doesn't support my hardware ![]()

if you want 5.4, you're better off using linux-lts54 from the AUR instead of using an obsolete binary kernel.

According to your other thread you are already using the AUR package linux-lts54. That is the proper way to run an older kernel. https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=267483
If that package did not exist or you do not trust it, then you use the old linux 5.4 PKGBUILD as a base, rename it and update it.
https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/Kernel#Compilation
Edit: Of course you can also download the old package from the arch linux archive, but that may break and it is not a good idea to run outdated kernels without any updates.

You're supposed to add that config.
Also please use code tags for file contenst and shell I/O
Edit: though since you've two audio devices and in case using the dsp drvier doesn't work you'd have to be a *bit* more specific reg. your sound issues which to solve is a much saner pursuit than trying to figure how to maintain a dated kernel.
Notably in the rather incredibly likely case that you're the same person as in the manjaro thread linked by progandy…

Boot into the system with a "broken" kernel and the first thing you do is run sudo dmesg and post that somewhere. https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/List_o … n_services
