gsettings/schema issue

i am trying to run a program

i then get the following error

GLib-GIO-ERROR **: 17:30:34.252: No GSettings schemas are installed on the system

but schemas are installed

$ pacman -Ss gsettings-desktop-schemas
extra/gsettings-desktop-schemas 40.0-3 [installed]
    Shared GSettings schemas for the desktop

i've run sudo glib-compile-schemas /usr/share/glib-2.0/schemas and that hasn't helped

what am i missing?

hypnotix

i've installed from aur using rua. and also via github.

both methods give the same issue

so for instance i've tried python3 usr/lib/hypnotix/hypnotix.py from the git directory

Different set of issues here.  But I do not get the error you report.   Mine look like it does not care for Wayland.

i think that's the issue. that what should be schema are seemingly installed. but are not picked up.

If you trace the commands activity with strace to see what files it opens,  that may show what it is failing to find:

strace -e trace=%file hypnotix

Not an issue at all, it's the expected behaviour.

You can only define the repo when using pacman -S, it makes no sense when using pacman -R as you can only have a single package with a unique name installed. Running pacman -R gsettings-desktop-schemas will remove the package.
