Key could not be looked up remotely

I'm trying to install a custom package on one of my VMs, I have the .sig file generated with makepkg. When I try to install on the target VM, pacman asks if :: Import PGP key 1234567890123456 "name <email>" [Y/n] y
It then returns errors
error: key "1234567890123456" could not be looked up remotely
error: required key missing from keyring
error: mypackage.tar.xz : unexpected error

I've looked through countless threads on these forums and in general Google, every single one telling to adjust/add the keyserver..........but if my key is LOCAL and generated locally, why would it exist on an external keyserver?
I haven't found a single thing about how to add my own key and get this package installed. So much redundant information on this one, I'm not trying to do anything very complex here...

Re: Key could not be looked up remotely

That's the exact link I have open in the next tab over... I did pacman-key --add ~/path/to/keyfile.sig and everything beyond that just doesn't work

The --finger command says the key isn't found hmm

Re: Key could not be looked up remotely

"pacman-key --verbose --add ~/path/to/keyfile" - ".sig" doesn't sound like it's actually a key? You need the public key, not the package signature.

Edit: also please replace the oversized image w/ a link/thumbnail. The board has a 200x200 limit.
