Issues with building mutter-performance from AUR

Hey all,

This is one of my first posts on the AUR forums! I'm looking forward to installing mutter-performance 40.2.1 from the AUR (with the 1441 patch) and here are some details regarding my Arch box (coming out of neofetch):

  • OS: Arch Linux x86_64

  • Host: XPS 15 9560

  • Kernel: 5.12.13-arch1-2

  • Resolution: 3840x2160

  • DE: GNOME 40.2

  • WM: Mutter

  • CPU: Intel i7-7700HQ (8) @ 3.800GHz

  • GPU: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 Mobile (disabled via kernel mode setting)

  • GPU: Intel HD Graphics 630

  • Memory: 23892MiB

Animations and even simple drags have been really bad on GNOME, especially v40 on HiDPI which apparently has been addressed somewhere on their GitLab. Nonetheless, even if not as pronounced, my mileage has always been bad with GNOME animations even on a 1080p external monitor (single-monitor setup) as well. If it's not wishful thinking, I'd like to install mutter-performance to fix this horrible stuttering.

Unfortunately,

makepkg -s --cleanbuild

fails every time at the check() step itself. In the full log coming out of the build process, the summary of errors is at line-6573.

Kindly let me know if there's any more information I could furnish! Really looking forward to some help. smile

Re: Issues with building mutter-performance from AUR

Stefan, you're a savior! I could successfully build and install mutter-performance by just skipping the check() step (though I don't know how "skipping" a step is a good thing). Thanks a billion. smile
