Since some weeks I noticed that when I power on my PC, it immediately becomes hot (even if I am not doing anything and in idle) and fan start spinning and so the PC consumes a lot of battery EVEN IF the cpu usage is 1-2%... How can I narrow down the problem?
I have these specs:
OS: Arch Linux x86_64
Kernel: 5.12.13-arch1-2
Resolution: 1920x1080
DE: GNOME 40.2
WM: Mutter
CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 3500U with Radeon Vega Mobile Gfx (8) @ 2.100GHz
I have tlp and auto-cpufreq installed. If I disable them the problem still happens so I left them enabled.
Some weeks ago powertop gives me a total of 6W or 7W of power consumption (discharge rate).
Now, I don't know why, I have in idle 25W of discharge rate.....

Under LinuxMint I don't have at all this issues. It consumes 5W in idle.

Update your system. There's a known issue with the 5.12.13 kernel that prevents amdgpu from going into lower power usage states. That issue has been fixed in 5.12.14
