Wired xbox series controller blinks and turns off

Hi

When I connect the xbox series controller to my computer, it vibrates once then nothing happens. When i press the xbox button on the controller, it blinks for a couple of minutes before turning off again.

it is supposed to work out of the box...

My system is up to date and uname -r displays 5.19.13-arch1-1

lsusb detects it, it does show up in /sys/kernel/debug/usb/devices, but I don't know how to troubleshoot further...

BTW when plugging to a Ubuntu 20.04 system it turns on and works perfectly.
