Does handbrake package uses ffmpeg?

Does handbrake package uses ffmpeg? I met with an encoding error when i try to create a video by myself using ffmpeg but when i create same video from handbrake i dont get any error and i also see that handbrake uses encoder Lavf and (mp4a) but ffmpeg uses Lavc and (aac).

Can anyone tell me the difference between those two?

Re: Does handbrake package uses ffmpeg?

handbrake is more or less a frontend around ffmpeg and invokes ffmpeg with specific arguments depending on the settings you choose. If you don't disclose what error messages you've seen and which exact command you used for your ffmpeg invocation then it's hard to tell what went wrong. But there are a lot of different encoder settings you can set in either of the two.
