GRUB kernel parameter not working

I am following the wiki on how to add the kernel parameter pcie_aspm=off to GRUB. I have changed the following line in /etc/default/grub :

GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="pcie_aspm=off loglevel=3 quiet"

And then I ran grub-mkconfig -o /boot/grub/grub.cfg. But this doesn't work: when the system boots, it does not have the parameter passed to it. When I do "cat /proc/cmdline" it says:

root=UUID=12248684-7685-4f66-b58e-bb97b1512fb6 rw initrd=\initramfs-linux.img

How do I add the parameter?

Re: GRUB kernel parameter not working

Did you check the content of /boot/grub/grub.cfg ? Maybe it is write protected or you misspelled something.

On GRUB boot menu screen press e, then navigate to default menu entry, manually add pcie_aspm=off after kernel line parameters and press Ctrl+X (or F10). When the system is booted up check /proc/cmdline

Re: GRUB kernel parameter not working

grub.cfg checks out. The parameters appear on every entry, I don't understand why they aren't getting applied. I'm not physically at the machine so I'll have to make an annoying trip there to test adding the boot menu option locally.
