I've been having this issue with pulseaudio every since i moved the config files,
Which config files did you move, where to and why?

pulse audio (was ~/.pulse now ~/.config/pulse & ~/.asoundrc now ~/.config/asoundrc
>why
i was trying to reduce the clutter in my home directory, i was using this https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/XDG_Base_Directory to move them

quick update, since turning off my pc (and restoring the original /etc/pulse/default.pa) pulseaudio now gives the output:
E: [pulseaudio] module.c: Failed to load module "module-alsa-source" (argument: "device=hw:0,0"): initialization failed.
E: [pulseaudio] authkey.c: Failed to truncate cookie file: Invalid argument
W: [pulseaudio] authkey.c: Failed to load authentication key '/home/alu/.config/pulse/cookie': Invalid argumentcmus now plays music but i still can't hear usual system audio

pulse audio (was ~/.pulse now ~/.config/pulse
Why? ~/.pulse is your user session. Now pulse can't find it.
i was trying to reduce the clutter in my home directory,
But ~/.pulse and ~/.config/pulse are two entirely different directories that pulse needs.
~/.asoundrc now ~/.config/asoundrc
Don't fix when not broken.

I thought that i could move all the folders there it says here https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/XDG_Ba … ry#Partial under PulseAudio that you can move them. if i was wrong what folders do i need to move back to my ~ for it to work again

That link doesn't mention anything about moving folders. Besides I think it's best to leave XDG alone and let it do its job. As I said why fix if not broken?
It's probably best to return everything back to its original state.
