[SOLVED] grub-mkrescue giving error: `mcopy` invocation failed

command

grub-mkrescue /usr/lib/grub/i386-pc -o dist/x86_64/HelloworldOS.iso target/x86_64/iso/

log

mcopy: No directory slots
grub-mkrescue: error: `mcopy` invocation failed
.

GRUB version - 2:2.06-1
libisoburn version - 1.5.4-2
mtools 1:4.0.33-1

This command worked before a few months ago. So I think the update is probably the cause.

Solution: revert to mtools 1:4.0.31
