Load ICC profiles on boot

Hi All,
I'm new to Archlinux and I came from Slackware after 12 years...
First impression of Archlinux is very very good.. :-)

I'm a photographer in the free time and I'm in trouble to load my ICC profiles ( two monitor) at boot.
When I was on Slackware I put a script in the Autostart section with dispwin ArgyllCMS command and it worked for some time BUT when I switched to KDE Plasma it didn't work anymore.
I tried with rc.local which is parsed at boot but nothing...

Now  on Arch I put the script in the autostart section too but it doesn't work!!
I put the dispwin command in the /etc/.xprofile files but the ICC profiles are not loaded at boot..

#!/bin/bash

dispwin -I -d1 /usr/share/color/icc/DELL.icc
dispwin -I -d2 /usr/share/color/icc/HP.icc

Can anyone help me ??

Thanks in advance
Gabriele

Re: Load ICC profiles on boot

Does it help if you use a full path to the binary , like /usr/bin/dispwin ?

How are you starting X ?

I think you'll find  https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/Xprofile  and https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/ICC_pr … C_profiles interesting/useful .

Disliking systemd intensely, but not satisfied with alternatives so focusing on taming systemd.

clean chroot building not flexible enough ?
Try clean chroot manager by graysky

Re: Load ICC profiles on boot

Hi Lone_Wolf,

I tried to use the full path but it doesn't help..

How am I starting X ?? I'm new to Arch ..I enabled SDDM with systemctl  .. :-|

It's very strange because if I debug xprofile ( I put sleep command in the script and the execution sleeps ) the xprofile file is parsed but the VCGT is not loaded into the LUT.
It works when I'm into the DE after login., only . If I make dispwin command the profile is loaded.

It's as the Plasma Kde brokes the X11 ICC atom

Any Hints?

Re: Load ICC profiles on boot

https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/Xprofile states sddm sources xprofile, so that should work and is confirmed by your debugging .

The fact dispwin is able to load the profiles after user login suggest a (rather common) race condition between the kernel initialising the videocard and systemd finisihng graphical target/ starting displaymanager.

Try configuring early KMS, see https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/Kernel_mode_setting

P.S. Welcome to archlinux forums (I hadn't noticed these are your first posts) .

P.P.S https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/ICC_profiles has some info I'll think you'll find interesting/useful, especiially section Loading ICC profiles .
