So I just moved over to Linux and have been trying to set up gaming which has gone fine for the most part so far. After messing around with my controller, I was able to connect it by bluetooth. The button mapping was all off however (X button mapped to LB, right stick did not have the Y axis mapped, etc) in steam I was able to remap it so it works fine there. The only problem is that the button mapping continues to be a mess outside of steam meaning that other games are unplayable.
Going off the wiki, I should have just been able to connect it and I don't really see anything in there about changing the mapping for anything other than a 360 controller. I might have missed it (I've been up a while). Is there any easy or hard (doesn't matter) way to remap the buttons? I didn't install any controller drivers, just the base ones if that helps.

I know that there was some tool specifically for that that I tried to use with my DS4 controller with no success, but I can't remember its name. As a quick workaround though, you can add your non-steam games to Steam library and they will use Steam Input - for me it was the last resort when I played Watch Dogs Legion through Lutris and the game couldn't detect my controller no matter what (even though it was visible in wine control).
Also, have you tried these tweaks? https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/Gamepa … Controller

Untested, seems to be not just limited to steam controllers:

The games I'm specifically trying to add are from Lutris, the Epic Game Store specifically so I'm not having a lot of luck with that.
I tried xpadneo and it connected without issue but the mapping was slightly better, but still off. I also just grabbed a regular usb chord and connected that way. Still off.

I tried this as well, although it was able to detect the controller, every button came uip as unmapped and when I attempted to map them it wouldn't accept the button press. Super frustrating.
