External monitor not functional

$ uname -a
Linux diana 5.13.4-arch1-1 #1 SMP PREEMPT Tue, 20 Jul 2021 16:58:51 +0000 x86_64 GNU/Linux

I did a

sudo pacman -Syyu

today.

Laptop: HP Pavillion Gaming Laptop 15-dk0xxx
WM: bspwm
CPU: Intel i5-9300H (8) @ 4.100GHz
GPU1: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650 Mobile / Max-Q
GPU2: Intel CoffeeLake-H GT2 [UHD Graphics 630]

Tried turning picom (compositor) on and off, that did not make any difference.

I have the nvidia-bug-report if that is required.

If I try to open a window on the monitor then the Xorg server dies. I can move the cursor on that monitor but moving a window onto it on opening an application on it, it just kills the Xorg server rendering the monitor unfunctional.

Any help will be highly appreciated. smile

Re: External monitor not functional

I don't know bspwm, but maybe it does not properly work with your dual-head yet.

You could check that with arandr or xrandr and see if both monitors are detected.
Also you may try an alternative WM or DE as a fallback, or feel free to uninstall them when you got your configs done in bspwm.
