In last 1 or 2 weeks, probably since update to pacman 6, when I try to update with discover or pkcon, I don't get any update.
Packagekit and pacman versions:
local/libpackagekit-glib 1.2.3-4
local/packagekit 1.2.3-4
local/packagekit-qt5 1.0.2-1
local/pacman 6.0.0-3 (base-devel)
Packagekit service is running:
packagekit.service - PackageKit Daemon
Loaded: loaded (/usr/lib/systemd/system/packagekit.service; static)
Active: active (running) since Thu 2021-06-10 21:49:43 CEST; 12h ago

Packagekit has to be updated for the new libalpm version that is part of pacman 6. Until then, you'll have to use pacman or try some other tool that implements the new API.

I'm updating with pacman now, but I couldn't find any info here or in arch bugs, thanks for giving link to github issue, I will subscribe it so I know when it works again

The Arch packagekit package should be working fine with pacman 6. Try deleting your PK cache.

I have deleted /var/cache/PackageKit/alpm, run pkcon refresh force to get new cache, and pkcon get-updates couldn't find updates. Then I deleted /var/lib/PackageKit/alpm and now it works

Thanks to your steps, Discover finds updates on my Arch again. Thank you.

I have been having this trouble on and off for a while, it seems that Discover doesn't always delete the lock file /var/lib/PackageKit/alpm/db.lck especially after you have performed an update. You don't need to remove the whole /var/lib/PackageKit/alpm directory, just removing this lock file is enough.

Thank you, Scambra. I had the same problem and deleting /var/lib/PackageKit/alpm worked for me.

Thank you so much, this fixed Discover for me.

Glad to hear, please take care not to necrobump old topics in the future.

Consider adding to the wiki if this is something that comes up routinely.
