Gnome 40 dock?

I'm using Archlinux  to learn and figure stuff out.  I used archinstall script to install fresh on an old Core i7 PC and chose Gnome as the DE.

I'm looking for settings that allow the dock to remain on the screen or auto hide.  At this point I have to kit the Windows key on my keyboard to see Activities and then work thru the apps.

Also I don't see minimize or maximize buttons on the window title bar next to the 'X'.

Have these things been depreciated??

Re: Gnome 40 dock?

In vanilla gnome 40 the dock always hides (this is new) and must be accessed via Activities. I'm not a fan of this so I have installed the gnome extension dash-to-panel (there are others) which has a ton of options to do just what you want. In order to get minimize and maximize buttons, install gnome tweaks and enable them in Window Titlebars.

Thanks, I now have the dash-to-panel working, but gnome-tweaks was already installed. I just don't know how to enable them in Window Titlebars. Not sure what you mean.

Re: Gnome 40 dock?

Open the (Gnome) Tweaks app and select Window Titlebars in the left column (below General). Titlebar Buttons should appear with options for Maximize, Minimize and Placement below.

Thanks, that did it. Now it's a much more usable desktop.
