Do you use lilo?
You read the messages from pacman during upgrade?
More infos please.
If you use lilo, boot with your archlinux cd into your system, check your /etc/lilo.conf and do a "lilo" as root.

the message is
no filesystem fount to mount root
kernel panic - not syncing :vfs: unable to mount root fs on unknown-block (0,0)
but before i update the system,i can come in the system

What he meant by read the output of pacman -Syu is that it tells you in /boot/grub/menu.lst to change the initrds from initrd26.img to kernel26.img because of the change to mkinitcpio.
