i deleted .config/pacaur some time ago. but recreating that folder didnt help solve my issue. all aur packages are followed by: :: ancient-packages is not present in AUR -- skipping
i am sure its something simple but i havent touched my system in a long time and feel like i lost some knowhow.

auracle is what pacaur ultimately uses to access the AUR, auracle broke when the new pacman release changed the libalpm it's using so you need to rebuild auracle.
You shouldn't forget how pkgbuilds ultimately work and that makepkg exists because these kind of things will happen every time there's a major pacman release and you need to remember to build the parts of AUR helpers that depend on it, which is auracle in this case.
