After a restart after a recent upgrade (see below, Guake was not upgraded), Guake greeted me with a message, that it cannot bind the F12 key (which was the key I set up in Guake to toggle the terminal). I worked around this by setting this up in Gnome preferences as a custom shortcut triggering guake -t. However, this is not the only problem. It does not respect a number of settings in the preferences (going from top to bottom in the Main Window section in Guake preferences):
Stay on top - does not stay on top, as if this was not checked
Refocus if open - does not refocus, as if this was not checked
Bottom align window instead of top align - the terminal is vertically centered instead of being at the top or bottom, no matter which of the two I set in preferences <- this is, by far, the most annoying misbehaviour
Appear on mouse display/Appear on display - it always comes up on mouse display, no matter whether I check Appear on mouse display, or how I set Appear on display
Horizontal Alignment - if the Width is not 100%, the terminal is always centered, no matter what I set
Does this happen to anyone else? Does anyone have a clue what might be the root of the problem, as Guake was NOT upgraded in the last upgrade?

I have found out the cause. For some reason, my Gnome session switched from X to Wayland and Guake has these two issues (keybinding and wrong placement) reported for Wayland:

Switching back to X solves my problem.
