Hi,
So in my login screen I have an option to change my session. I've installed i3 and I have 3 options : xfce, i3 and i3 (debug).
I'd like to make this work, but I just can't. On the wiki they explain how to change the default window manager either for all users, or for just one user, but not based on sessions.
I then tried to change my default window manager to "ls" (effectively nothing), change /usr/share/xsessions/i3.desktop exec command to "startxfce4" and then autostart either xfwm or i3 based on the session I start. That failed too.
The "startup apps" settings manager that comes with xfce has a completely different meaning associated to "session" apparently (yet another one), and while I can either start xfwm or i3 on startup (and it works), I can't do it based on the session I chose.
I then tried to edit /usr/share/xsessions/xfce.desktop and /usr/share/xsessions/i3.desktop to both start startxfce4 and i3/xfwm, but I can't even login when I do that. I'm stuck in the greeter. I tried putting two commands at once in many different ways, like "startxfce4; xfwm" "startxfce4; xfwm &" "startxfce4 & && xfwm"... but NONE worked.
So, how do I make this work ? Am I stupid ?
Thanks,
Antoine
