Please help with NES emulation

looking for a good way to play some classic NES games, I had tuxnes which wasn't too horrible but for some reason I can no longer get it to save my games. Tried fceu but the keyboard layout was horribly hard to work with. So mednafen looks pretty good but when I try to compile it always gives me this error:
checking for LIBCDIO... configure: error: *** libcdio not found!
even though I have libcdio installed.
Can anyone help me with this please!

try installing pkgconfig then rerun make.
