I have a Dell latitude 7389 dual booted with windows. I can use the internal speakers and the headphone jack both in windows but in arch, it doesn't recognize the headphone jack. when It's plugged in I can hear a slight tick sometimes but it keeps playing audio through the internal speakers. I tried jumping between alsa and PulseAudio, even tried almost 5 different kernel versions but nothing seems to be working. any help would be highly appreciated.
Thanks.

Did you actually tell your system to output via the headphones instead of the speakers? A good tool for this is pavucontrol.

Please use [ code ] rather than [ quote ] for output.
Normally you'd have an auto-mute control here, as there isn't you'll probably have to manipulate things with hdajackretask. FWIW a bit of googling turned up https://ask.fedoraproject.org/t/headpho … 34/13894/8 see if you can replicate that.

Oh I'm sorry it's my first post.
yes I did try to do it but it doesn't give me an option to do it. the only option it provides is internal options.

my bad.. I edited it.
And thank you so much. I've been trying to solve this problem since I bought this laptop. hated the fact that I had to use windows as my main os and I thought I had tried everything to fix this and gonna have to wait for a fine kernel update.
That Solution worked.
Thank you again.
