[Solved]Screen Tearing with amdgpu

I recently installed Arch Linux.
I installed amdgpu using https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/AMDGPU#Installation
and MATE desktop with https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/MATE#Installation
Using this, https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/AMDGPU … _rendering, I could stop the screen tearing by creating a file here, /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d/20-amdgpu.conf, containing
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Section "Device"
     Identifier "AMD"
     Driver "amdgpu"
EndSection
__________________________________________________
This just resulted in Xorg crashing whenever I logged into MATE, so I reverted the changes.
The wiki also mentions I can temporarly stop screen tearing with this,
xrandr --output HDMI-1 --set TearFree on
Doing that however returns an error,
__________________________________________________________

X Error of failed request: BadName (named color or font does not exist)
Major opcode of failed request: 140 (RANDR)
Minor opcode of failed request: 11 (RRQueryOutputProperty)
Serial number of failed request: 47
Current serial number in output stream: 47

__________________________________________________________
The output of 'xrandr --props' doesn't show the tearfree option anywhere

Re: [Solved]Screen Tearing with amdgpu

That shows that you didn't install the xf86-video-amdgpu package, which means that without that file you were likely running on the modesetting DDX.

[ 253.070] (II) LoadModule: "amdgpu"

Because xf86-video-amdgpu isn't installed…
