content streaming service over raspberry like chromecast?

Hey there,

am i just a bad researcher or isn't there something with a functionality like chromecast in the linux universe?
My dream is to send any video to my raspberry over lan/wlan from any device and watch it on tv.

I know there is kodi, but is it what i need? It looks a bit overloaded for my needs.
i only need some icon in firefox which tells the system to stream it to my tv.

Does firefox has some features already implemented which we could use?

Third hit on a google search: https://github.com/vbaicu/mMusicCast but no clue how well this will work.
