[SOLVED] Working C# development IDE?

Hello, I need to start developing in C# and I don't want to install Windows just for that, but all my attempts to find complete working solution on Archlinux (or maybe Linux in general) failed. By complete solution I mean some working IDE with workig intelli sense and such. I tried Visual Studio Code C# extension with no luck (getting bunch of errors every time I try to load project), Monodevelop seems to be discontinued and no longer works... Do you have any solution yourselves? Surely there must be some C# developers using linux.

I use C# (dotnet 5.0 core) with Visual Studio Code and Omnisharp without any issues using official packages.

What kind of error are you getting? Are you using dotnet core in your projects?

I really have no experience with Unity, sorry.

You can start by checking if basic dotnet console project works:

~/test >> dotnet new console
The template "Console Application" was created successfully.

In fact that is exactly the way I did it when I posted my error output. Opened Unity on Linux, created new empty project, added new script file and opened VS Code. The result is as shown on my error output above

Do you have mono-msbuild package installed (and maybe also mono-msbuild-sdkresolver)? According to your error, you would be need it.

Omg xerxes, you probably have many statues after Thermopylae, but I should build you one right now. You were exactly on point. Installed both of them and it is working like a charm. I was searching the internet for two weeks and haven't find the solution. Thanks a lot.

Omg, I had to sign up JUST to thank you.  I've been scratching my head all day, searching high and low for a fix to the VS Code/Unity intellisense issue.

Turns out installing mono-msbuild and mono-msbuild-sdkresolver did the trick and fixed it.
