problems with thunderbird and firefox

After pacman -Syu on 8/26/2021, when using the latest thunderbird, I find that text has random blue lines drawn horizontally through (basically line by line) when the mouse is hovering over a line. All types of text areas in thunderbird are affected (i.e. the email list in a given mailbox, the text of a specific message, etc.). Nothing seems to crash and if the mouse is moved the text can be read, but still it's clearly a new issue. Anyone else notice this?

Also, for the past couple months or so I've noticed that firefox is unable to load a module to read CAC cards. ... my laptop has a built-in reader and when I navigate as follows: Edit --> Settings --> Privacy & Security --> Security Devices --> Load

I navigate to the correct module (which for me is /usr/lib64/pkcs11/libcoolkeypk11.so), and then when I click to load it a message pops up saying the operation failed. If one then hits "cancel," something actually appears in the leftmost pane despite the error box...if you then click on it (in the leftmost pane), the details will show up in the main pane...if you then click ok the browser will be able to use the CAC reader successfully, but every time firefox is restarted the procedure has to be repeated. Anyone else notice this? I was hoping it would just get fixed with a subsequent firefox update, but there have been several and it's still there.

Note - these are clearly minor issues so please take the post in the proper spirit.

Known issue with mesa. Downgrade to 21.1.6-1

No idea about the FF issue, that's why ominbus threads are discouraged: https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/Genera … ow_to_post

I've not seen anything like OP description with thunderbird & trunk mesa.

I also can't find other reports of it, could you post links ?

Disliking systemd intensely, but not satisfied with alternatives so focusing on taming systemd.

clean chroot building not flexible enough ?

Re: problems with thunderbird and firefox

That explains it, as the only system with intel graphics & linux i help maintain is to old for Iris and works fine with classic i915 mesa driver / modesetting.

Re: problems with thunderbird and firefox

Downgrading mesa to 21.6.1-1 fixed the weird issue with text in thunderbird. Thanks to the poster who pointed out it was a known issue.

The problem with firefox thinking it cannot load a pkcs11 module remains though.

/usr/lib64/pkcs11/libcoolkeypk11.so

On archlinux /usr/lib64 is a symlink to /usr/lib , try giving firefox the real location .

$ pkgfile libcoolkeypk11.so
$

That file doesn't come from an official package, where does it come from ?
