Mouse / Trackpad causing flickering

compositor - picom
hardware - laptop with integrated intel and nvidia graphics

I'm getting the strangest flickering when the mouse goes over a button or text and becomes that uppercase i looking shape. I'm not sure what's causing it I thought that using picom would fix, but It persists even when running on the intel graphics. I am not having any screen tearing or videoplayback errors just this very frustrating screen flicker from the mouse hitting links/ text. If anyone has any tips please let me know. For some reason when using a mouse instead of the trackpad the issue completely goes away. I disabled middle click with the trackpad thinking that it would help but it is still persisting.

If installed remove xf86-video-intel and any xorg config referencing the intel driver if present. If that's not it there is a regression in mesa that might hit some iGPU combinations in which case you might want to test downgrading that to 2.1.6
