Hello, the problem I have encountered involves connecting an external monitor to my Asus laptop with Intel integrated GPU and Nvidia discrete GPU.
Whenever I connect the monitor, everything displayed there is working quite slow (judging by eye, I'd say about 30-40 FPS) while it works smooth on the laptop's screen. It is also worth mentioning that it sometimes works even worse above certain windows, for example, hovering the cursor over Firefox is more laggy than over Dolphin (KDE file manager).
I use optimus-manager and I've tried switching the mode from Hybrid to Nvidia, but it does not fix the problem.
I am sure that it is a problem with the OS, because I'm dual booting with Windows 10 and everything works smooth there. That also eliminates all problems concerning the monitor itself or the HDMI cable.
The monitor is setup correctly in KDE Plasma settings, I've tried either 60Hz or 75Hz, but both work just as laggy.
If it makes any difference, the screen is 21:9 2560x1080 with the maximum refresh rate of 75Hz.
I'm using KDE Plasma 5.22.1.
How do I fix this issue?

I have the same issue on Manjaro. But I do not use optimus-manager and I use the open source drivers (not proprietary).
I think it came after a recent update but I could not say which one. It may be because of my latest Manjaro update (21.1.1 Pahvo).
I have a Nvidia GeForce 1060 and a Intel Core i7. And it starts lagging as soon as I connect my external monitor, which is 60 Hz while my primary laptop screen is 120 Hz.
I'm using KDE Plasma 5.22.4
I think I will wait for the next Manjaro rolling update, and hope that it will fix this. And I'll consider using https://github.com/teejee2008/timeshift to make backups before big updates...
