GNOME can't recognise HEIC images

hi, it looks like HEIC images can't be opened or thumbnailed. i have `libheif` installed and of course `eog` and so on but i occasionally do miss gnome-related components so maybe there is an issue. is there anything specific i might be missing to open / thumbnail these?

Re: GNOME can't recognise HEIC images

Maybe you need ffmpegthumbs or ffmpegthumbnailer too? I can see HEIC thumbnails in Nautilus with those two installed.

Opening HEIC files only works in Gimp for me.

P.S. Actually my eog can open a HEIC image, but eog is not listed as an "open with" option in Nautilus. Strange. And eog does not show multiple images inside a HEIC, but Gimp does. (I am testing this with the Mojave.heic dynamic wallpaper from my MacBook which contains several day and night images.)
