I am trying to use my new Sony WH-1000XM4 bluetooth headset with Archlinux (Gnome 40) on a Lenovo L14 Gen2.
Can anyone tell me how to get them working? I tried through multiple howtos on this wiki, and while pairing and connection seems to work, devices do not show up as input or output devices in the system or in pulseaudio.
* Are there alteratives to pulseaudio I could try?
* Who has this (or a similar headset like Bose or Apple) running with Archlinux and can advise?

An alternative to try would be pipewire, but what messages do you get (e.g. in your journal) on connecting and how exactly do you connect? Issues in this space can often be down to kernel or bluez version issues, so maybe try the LTS kernel or so

I am using this headset on my laptop. I haven't tried all possible configurations to get it working in LDAC mode yet, because it limits number of connected devices.
I turned on "Connect to 2 devices simultaneously" in the Headphones Android App (only AAC in this mode).
Then it works on my system with KDE using pipewire.

I have the Sony WH-1000XM3 and a Lenovo P15v notebook.
With pipewire
roman@roman ~ % yay -Q | grep pipe
gst-plugin-pipewire 1:0.3.34-1
pipewire 1:0.3.34-1
pipewire-alsa 1:0.3.34-1
pipewire-media-session 1:0.3.34-1
pipewire-pulse 1:0.3.34-1
and in pavucontrol
I can go to configuration and select all available codecs for the headset.
A2DP for high quality but only headphones
HSP for headphones and mic.
No configuration in pipewire required!!
