[SOLVED] No sound after reboot

Hi,
For some reason, my system doesn't transmit any sound to my audio device after reboot. The sound comes back only when I type "alsactl restore", but I wasn't able to find a permanent fix. Could you help me?

Re: [SOLVED] No sound after reboot

Have you installed and configured the extra/alsa-utils package as described in the wiki?

I'm probably being silly, but I couldn't understand exactly how I should proceed with the configuration even though I read the section of the wiki you linked me to.

Re: [SOLVED] No sound after reboot

It will boil down to that you need to run

sudo alsactl store

once after having "fixed" it. the restore you are running now should then be automatically ran when the system boots up, in doubt post

systemctl status alsa-restore

FWIW do you have and are you rebooting from a parallel Windows install and if so, did you ensure fast startup is disabled ? Double-check this, Windows tends to silently reenable this on updates.

I ran "sudo alsactl store," but there was still no sound when I rebooted it. Here is what I get when I type "systemctl status alsa-restore" when there is no sound:

● alsa-restore.service - Save/Restore Sound Card State
     Loaded: loaded (/usr/lib/systemd/system/alsa-restore.service; static)
     Active: active (exited) since Sat 2021-09-11 20:56:31 +03; 3min 5s ago
    Process: 384 ExecStart=/usr/bin/alsactl restore (code=exited, status=0/SUCC>
   Main PID: 384 (code=exited, status=0/SUCCESS)
        CPU: 8ms

Warning: some journal files were not opened due to insufficient permissions.

I have Windows on my SSD; I checked the fast startup option, and it was on, but the problem persists despite me disabling it.

Re: [SOLVED] No sound after reboot

An update: I solved the problem months ago by uninstalling pulseaudio and starting to use pipewire instead. Worked like a charm.
