I cannot get 4k UHD graphics (black screen) on X11 when solely using external monitor via HDMI. I have also tried two UHD TV's. Obviously this is when the laptop screen is deactivated. Everything is good with 1080p resolution otherwise. System is a 4 core i7 with 32gb RAM. The behaviour remains the same with:
vulkan intel
i915
nvidia
nouveau
All tried with Mate and Gnome 40 legacy (or what ever it's called)
Wayland does work on 4k in both KDE and Gnome. However these Wayland session environments have usability issues so wanting x11 and also prefer Mate. (KDE plasma works with Wayland at 4k but window scaling is a disaster, but I digress) Windows 10 works fine BTW in a dual boot via Grub
I'm not sure if this is a laptop specific issue or not but I'm getting next to none matching search hits so I figure might be a weird laptop thing.
Any ideas?
Thanks,
Wes

A xorg log and the output of
xrandr --listproviders
xrandr -q
would be nice. Is this specifically configured for optimus or are all outputs connected to the intel GPU?
