cups always printing banners / cover pages

Hello everyone,

this one is starting to drive me crazy.
Most of the time I only want to quickly print one page, but then I will always end up getting three -
the page I wanted to print plus a cover page up front and another cover page after.

What I tried:

(1) Configured the printer via http://localhost:631/printers/ and set job-sheets=none,none
(2) lpoptions -p EPSON_WF-M5690_Series -o nobanner
(3) lpoptions -p EPSON_WF-M5690_Series -o job-sheets=none,none
(4) lpoptions -p EPSON_WF-M5690_Series -o banner=never

But no success. These settings are simply ignored.

Does anyone have an idea what I could do?

Thanks
Phil

Re: cups always printing banners / cover pages

run

$ lpr /usr/share/cups/data/testprint

If that does print the extra pages, it's likely caused by some setting on the printer itself.

In case that command doesn't print the extras, check the settings of the software you use.

Disliking systemd intensely, but not satisfied with alternatives so focusing on taming systemd.
