Switched from KDE to GNOME, applications missing from the menu

Like the title says I have switched from KDE Plasma to the GNOME desktop environment, and it has caused me trouble with a few applications. Both steam and vivaldi-stable are missing from the application and search menu. I can still launch both of them if I run them directly through /usr/bin/. But they still don't appear in the application menu. This has happened on both Wayland and Xorg

I was able to resolve this issue this morning. I went into /usr/share/applications and deleted the .desktop file for the applications that weren't showing up and reinstalled (not sure if the last step is necessary because for Strawberry Music Player, simply deleting the file made it show up in GNOME).
