I mean, of course we can use it via XferCommand, but how much advantage would it have over native Pacman?

Why are you asking here when you could have already tested for yourself? Or are you just drumming up clicks for phoronix?

Sorry if that came out wrong. I could've just posted the upstream link. https://lists.gnu.org/archive/html/info … 00011.html
I can already max out my network so there's not much difference to mind. I just wonder how much further protocol benefits (is there even already that many mirrors with HTTP/2or3?) Pacman already has without external stuff, since it already leverages curl more or less.

So, just to double-check, you're not having an issue with pacman or upgrades, right? This is a hypothetical question / request for someone else to run tests or benchmarks?
All the best,

No issues. Yes just a hypothetical question about software features. No tests or hard numbers even needed to be honest.
…oops did I noob'd in the the wrong board as I thought it was Pacman-related? Sorry I haven't been around for years.

pacman uses (lib)curl which supports http/2 (pacman might have to add a flag?) and parallel downloads (implemented in pacman) as well, so no real advantage to use wget2 now.
