I'm trying to connect my android phone to my computer, it worked flawlessly before but some days ago it stopped working. When I connect it and try to access the device from Dolphin I get the message: No MTP-compatible devices found.
I looked around and some people on the forum suggested installing gvfs-mtp and some people suggest uninstalling it. I tried both ways and still the phone doesn't get recognized. Some people said that the problem has to do with using USB 3.0 instead of USB 2.0, I tried plugin the phone to every USB port but still doesn't work.
Running mtp-detect I get the message:
Listing raw device(s)
Device 0 (VID=2717 and PID=ff48) is a Xiaomi Mi-2s (MTP).
Found 1 device(s):
Xiaomi: Mi-2s (MTP) (2717:ff48) @ bus 3, dev 7
Attempting to connect device(s)
libusb_claim_interface() reports device is busy, likely in use by GVFS or KDE MTP device handling alreadyLIBMTP PANIC: Unable to initialize device
Unable to open raw device 0
OK.
The phone is detected when using KDE Connect but when trying to transfer files I get speeds of 1 kb/s. I know the phone, cable and ports are working because when I use Android-File-Transfer I don't have any problems, phone gets recognized without any issue and I can transfer files at a normal speed.
Is there any way to fix this problem so that Dolphin can detect the phone normally?

Dolphin doesn't use gvfs, for the record. You need kio-extras. But if it was already working before and stopped working, you may already have it.

I'm having the same problem - mtp devices stopped working - and it appears that there is a problem or incompatibility with the latest libmtp (1.1.19-1). For me, downgrading libmtp to 1.1.18-1 fixes the issues. Maybe kio-extras needs a recompile with libmtp?

I was having the same issue and finally found the solution. Downgrading libmtp to 1.1.18-1 and rebooting fixed it. Thank you for the recommendation! I tried KDE Connect as a workaround and it is not a viable alternative to the simplicity of mtp drag-and-drop after plugging a device in.

Same for me. Downgrading libmtp to 1.1.18-1 and rebooting fixed it for me too.

I confirm. Downgrading worked for me too.
I love archlinux: the last STABLE kernel release + the last STABLE DE release + the last STABLE apps releases. The upstream developers decide what is STABLE.

This fixed the problem, thanks a lot.

Please test kio-extras 21.08.1-2

Works fine for me now, thanks!

Affirmative: kio-extras 21.08.1-2 + libmtp 1.1.19-1 = functioning mtp. Thank you!
