I'm running vanilla Gnome on Xorg. My system completely shuts down randomly without any warning. Checked my logs after rebooting, it failed with these messages:
/usr/lib/gdm-x-session[1011]: (EE) client bug: timer event20 debounce: scheduled expiry is in the past (-0ms), your system is too slow
/usr/lib/gdm-x-session[1011]: (EE) client bug: timer event20 debounce short: scheduled expiry is in the past (-13ms), your system is too slowI have tried running the following kernels: linux, linux-lts, liunx-zen with their respective headers but the problem persists in all of them.
I see there is an open bug report on launchpad https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+sour … ug/1914806 and https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+sour … ug/1870597.

My system completely shuts down randomly without any warning.
Overheat or undercurrent. It's not related to the event debounce.
Track temperature and CPU usage.

I installed windows to stress test my computer. It did not shut down. I checked my logs for critical temperature errors, there were no such warnings or errors. So I doubt my system is overheating or undercurrent issue. I tried gnome with wayland, the same issue happened there also. I doubt this has something to do with Gnome only.
I do run tlp with default settings. Could that be causing this issue?

If you had windows installed before it might be the very thing that shuts down the system, see the 3rd link below.

Based on what? So far it's a constant in replicating the problem.

"Could", but I'd expect it to log when it shuts down the system.
=> Ensure windows isn't hibernating, disable tlp and rule out gnome (see whether this happens in an openbox session, also https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=269447 )

HIbernation and fastboot were disabled on windows.
When I was running gnome on wayland, the system crashed similarly after which I checked my logs where the last errors were exactly the same.
Right now I have done another clean install of arch without tlp, and with gnome on xorg, so far it's good.
I'm runnig arch on a laptop with a bluetooth mouse. I checked how tlp effects input devices, it lowers the suspend time before which a bluetooth device auto-suspends. I suspect tlp is the culprit in all this.
I will run my system without shutting down for a couple of days to test my theory and update it here.
Update:
Similar errors appear in logs but system hasn't crashed yet:
/usr/lib/gdm-x-session[699]: (EE) client bug: timer event7 hold: scheduled expiry is in the past (-94ms), your system is too slow
/usr/lib/gdm-x-session[728]: (EE) event11 - Video Bus: client bug: event processing lagging behind by 15ms, your system is too slow
/usr/lib/gdm-x-session[728]: (EE) event7 - MSFT0001:02 06CB:7F8F Touchpad: client bug: event processing lagging behind by 11ms, your system is too slow
/usr/lib/gdm-x-session[710]: (EE) event20 - M585/M590 Mouse: client bug: event processing lagging behind by 27ms, your system is too slow
This makes it much more likely that the problem was tlp.
