Intel 965 Video Support

I just put together a new system with an Intel DG965 Motherboard that uses the 965 Chipset and has an integrated X3000 video card. It is said to be supported by the i810 video driver. I have installed that and set it as the driver in xorg.conf.

When I try to start X I get the following messages:

(EE) GARTInit: Unable to open /dev/agpgart (No such file or directory)
(EE) I810(0): Failed to allocate framebuffer.

sure enough /dev/agpgart does not exist. After looking on the internet I tried a few things. I modprobe'd "intel-agp" and "i810" but still no /dev/agpgart and still no X.

I then tried "mknod /dev/agpgart c 175 10" but that only caused the error in X to become

(EE) GARTInit: Unable to open /dev/agpgart (No such device or address)

Im just about out of ideas. Has anyone else go this to work.

Maybe this is valid for your chipset as well. My girlfriends x broke when xorg updated to 7.0. Alternative is waiting for it to become stable or use the one in the testing repo.

Re: Intel 965 Video Support

Well I finally got it working. I had to update to the newest kernel (2.6.19-rc1).
