[SOLVED]My keyboard acts like its a laptop keyboard when numlock is on

So I'm using KDE although I'm not sure if this is an Arch or KDE problem. I know what the problem is. When numlock is on, my whole keyboard stops and works the same way a laptop keyboard works with numlock on (https://www.dummies.com/wp-content/uplo … image0.jpg) where jkl correspond to 123, iop = 456 etc. I can't find any forums describing the same issue I'm having on Linux. I have a 96% keyboard with a numpad so this feature just kinda breaks my keyboard. Anyone help I appreciate smile

Wayland of X11?
In case of the latter, what's the output of "setxkbmap -print -query"?

Re: [SOLVED]My keyboard acts like its a laptop keyboard when numlock is on

output of it:

xkb_keymap {
        xkb_keycodes  { include "evdev+aliases(qwerty)" };
        xkb_types     { include "complete"      };
        xkb_compat    { include "complete"      };
        xkb_symbols   { include "pc+au+hu(qwerty):2+inet(evdev)"        };
        xkb_geometry  { include "pc(pc105)"     };
};
rules:      evdev
model:      pc105
layout:     au,hu
variant:    ,qwerty

edit: I think you meant 'or' instead of 'of' rereading it now. I'm on x11

Yeah, the downside of typing fast is that it's not always perfect ;-)

On topic:
Does the situation apply to the au layout, the hu layout or both?

Re: [SOLVED]My keyboard acts like its a laptop keyboard when numlock is on

quickly testing it, it happens for both. I used to on US and I noticed it but last night I switched to these two layouts. Also I found this reddit post. Tried what they wrote but didn't change anything. I have the same keyboard as them the keychron k4

edit: forgot to post the link lmao https://www.reddit.com/r/Keychron/comme … _with_x11/

AU is the default US layout

Does the same happen on the linux console?
Is it Fn driven?
Does the keyboard default to the F1-12 keys or the media stuff?
What does the "option" key do?

Yes the same happens on the console. Ohhh now that you mention it. My f1-12 buttons don't work. Eg. I cant refresh a webpage with f5 but instead work as media buttons. Option key? Looking it up I'm guessing you mean alt keys and they work fine. Using the KDE keyboard preview my Super R key doesnt work and my f1-12 don't work either. https://imgur.com/a/uRXWyVr some other keys dont work but thats because I have less keys then that layout

Re: [SOLVED]My keyboard acts like its a laptop keyboard when numlock is on

It's not the xkb layout then (or anything X11) - an amazon screenshot had an "option" key right to the Fn key, but from their website I guess that's indeed just Alt.

Is it Fn driven?

Ie. can you access the F1-12 keys pressing Fn and does that also clear the alphanumeric numpad?

Edit: seems related and there seems to be some relevant side switch…

Re: [SOLVED]My keyboard acts like its a laptop keyboard when numlock is on

Ohh thats because you can swap the keycaps to your version/layout. Testing it out. I cannot get any of the f1-12 keys working with fn or rctrl ralt, lalt, lctrl and win/superL key. Actually when I press f10 it mutes my audio, but when I hold super L key then it mutes my mic instead of muting audio. Idk if that helps.

Edit: additionally. Whenever it goes into that weird laptop numeric keyboard mode, the only way I can change it is by going to settings, hardware, input devices, keyboard and just changing keyboard model and apply it. Then the numpad works as normal. If I then press numlock keyboard works with numlock off and if I press numlock again then it goes back to the laptop numeric key mode. Additionally my keyboard is bluetooth and I primarily use it in that mode. When in cable mode this numlock issue doesnt exist and works as normal. Only in bluetooth is the issue I describe present. Hope that helps
