No Headphone sound at all | Fresh Install | Lenovo ThinkCentre 73

Hello!

I ve just installed a fresh copy of Arch Linux and its my first time here. Ive been using linux many years mainly debian distros and  its my first time in Arch

Everything is working fine except the headphones where i have no sound at all ( Sound in speakers is ok without any issue)

alsa-utils 1.2.5.1-1 and pulseaudio 15.0-1 is installed on my system.

I noticed that headphone section on alsamixer by finding the sound card with F6 was muted. I cange it to have sound, i exit the alsamixer, but problem remains.

Any suggestion to solve this issue?

Re: No Headphone sound at all | Fresh Install | Lenovo ThinkCentre 73

Make sure you are up to date, incidentally there are a lot of fixes around speaker/headphone compat in the current 5.14.14 kernel.

If that's the case already maybe post some more info as to what is detected though I do assume an underlying kernel issue.

Try

aplay -l
pacmd list-cards
pacmd list-sinks

in [ code ] tags without the spaces.

Re: No Headphone sound at all | Fresh Install | Lenovo ThinkCentre 73

Please wrap the output in code tags and in general don't bump your thread https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/Genera … es#Bumping

Looks ok, so we are likely looking at a lower level kernel issue. Random suggestion to try is to disable powerSaving in e.g. a /etc/modprobe.d/disablePower.conf

options snd_hda_intel power_save=0

and a reboot. If that didn't help you could try to play with how the speakers/headphones react by using something like hdajackretask to see whether you can fix a potential wrong mapping, that's going to be quite fiddly though.

Some general other things, have you tested these headphones on another system/does the jack work on Windows if you still have that? Maybe test linux-lts or so.

Re: No Headphone sound at all | Fresh Install | Lenovo ThinkCentre 73

disabling power Saving didn't solve the issue, while my headphones work great in Windows 10, as well as in another freeBSD distro i run

i dont want to quit using Arch

anyway thank you for your reply
