Im working with arch linux using Deepin UI and for some reason my audio stopped working after a recent update...

Re: (SOLVED) Audio/Sound stopped working

What are you using for testing? Also post

amixer -c0
sudo fuser -v /dev/snd/*
pacmd list-cards
pacmd list-sinks
pacmd list-sink-inputs

during reproduction.

Re: (SOLVED) Audio/Sound stopped working

All inputs run on 0% volume - was anything supposed to play when you ran this?

Does

mpv -ao alsa thunderstruck.mp3

produce any sound?

Re: (SOLVED) Audio/Sound stopped working

Hmm,
Sounds works only when run by root user

root@thor Top 100 Hits Of The 80S]# mpv -ao alsa 021\)\ Dexy\'s\ Midnight\ Runners\ -\ Come\ On\ Eileen\ \[April\ 1983\].mp3
 (+) Audio --aid=1 (mp3 2ch 44100Hz)
File tags:
 Artist: Dexy's Midnight Runners
 Album: Pure 80's
 Date: 1983
Title: Come On Eileen [April 1983]
AO: [alsa] 48000Hz stereo 2ch float
A: 00:00:11 / 00:04:12 (5%)

Exiting... (Quit)

Interesting since the volume is all the way up via the UI

from the user

andy@thor Top 100 Hits Of The 80S]$ mpv -ao alsa 021\)\ Dexy\'s\ Midnight\ Runners\ -\ Come\ On\ Eileen\ \[April\ 1983\].mp3

Try to kill/stop the PA daemon and try to play on alsa again.

Re: (SOLVED) Audio/Sound stopped working

Wonderful troubleshooting..
For some reason the pulse audio daemon was running as root??
Stopped and started daemon and the audio is back working across all apps.

andy@thor ~]$ systemctl --user stop pulseaudio.service
andy@thor ~]$ systemctl --user start pulseaudio.service

Even after a reboot..  :-)

Thank you
