I'm on a desktop PC with integrated intel graphics (coffee lake).
After few minutes of inactivity the monitor tries to go to sleep but wakes up immediately under KDE. Funny thing it works as expected on SDDM.
It's not a spurious USB signal as I removed all usb devices (keyboard, mouse, etc).
It shouldn't be an application issue as it does the same with no apps opened.
I tried to change monitor cable and tried both DP and HDMI.
If I use intel driver it seems to be working just fine, with mesa it just can't stay off.
I have early modesetting, I tried to enable guc and I tried the following kernel options: snd_hda_codec_hdmi.enable_silent_stream=0 intel_idle.max_cstate=1 i915.enable_dc=0
I get no errors/warnings on journalctl.
I'm out of ideas...

Seems to be a known bug in kscreen that can be workarounded by disabling kscreen with the relevant usability hits that might have: https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=422455 https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=426609
