ezQuake is a QuakeWorld client. Has lots of features.
http://ezquake.sourceforge.net/
the fuhQuake PKGBUILD in AUR could be helpfull. They are pretty similar.

I second this request =P

Oops, didn't even know anyone requested it. I was getting upset with fuhQuake's website being b0rked and stumbled upon ezQuake, I should have discovered it long ago.
Anyways, if you are getting ezQuake, don't forget about the high resolution skins and textures (if you are interested)

Also I uploaded Rocket Arena for QuakeWorld which depends on the ezQuake package:

I believe there are around 50 servers still running Rocket Arena for Quake.

Hey you quakers!
Got one question: What package do you use (from AUR?) ?
ioquake3-svn, quake3, quake3-icculus-svn .. or, or, or ... ;D
Which one works good?

Here are the Quake 3 options on the AUR:
"quake3" is the stock binaries from id Software. The only reason you would need to use this is if you had to play on PunkBuster-enabled servers. PunkBuster ONLY works with these stock binaries.
"ioquake3-svn" is the defacto standard for opensource engines, so you should use that. It's compatable with the original stock game, so you can play on any Quake 3 server with it. The majority of Quake 3 mods work with it as well. Gentoo, Debian, and Ubuntu's "quake3" package is ioquake3.
"quake3-icculus-svn" is the same thing as ioquake3. The project was renamed to "ioquake3" recently. I was going to request this package be deleted soon, but I wanted to wait a bit for people to realize what was going on and switch.
"quake3-svn" is another package on the AUR which is some random fork that is rarely updated or developed, it should be renamed to "quake3-quakesrc-svn" or simply deleted from the AUR.
So use ioquake3-svn.

Hey thx for explanation Slash
Will install "ioquake3-svn" now with versionpkg
cheers,

you should know, that ioquake3 doesn't work on servers with punkbuster enabled and will never work on pb protected servers, since there will no opensource support from the punkbuster team.
but if the server doesn't have pb enabled, it works just great

If you want to try another DM game, you should give Warsow a try. It's based on a heavily modified Quake 2 engine (Qfusion engine). The movement is similar to QuakeWorld, but with sprints, dodging, and wall-jumping. The weapons are balanced similar to Quake 3, but each has two types of ammo- strong and weak. It has a cell-shaded art style. CAL recently added Warsow to the league and has tournaments weekly, I believe. You can get my PKGBUILD for it here:

I was looking at the ioquake3-svn package and realized I made it a long time ago and it's messy and sucks. I updated it and made it nicer and added more features and fixed some problems:
http://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?d … =1&ID=6864
I am updating all the quake 3 modifications to depend on "quake3", so you can use the "quake3" package or the "ioquake3" package (or any other package that provides "quake3").
