I've been piddling around with an older computer I hope to drop into my car, and I decided to install the freenx server. Everything went o.k., I copied the keys, I can connect etc... It's just that when I connect with the client on another computer, nothing happens. In the admin gui, it shows that I'm connected and that I've started an X session, some info is transfered, but the little nxclient window dissappears and that's it. No remote desktop in another window. Does anyone have any idea what's going on? :?

Are you behind a router? Are the ports open? Ect.

Yes, but the ports are open. It authenticates, connects, and starts the X session, but right when I should be seeing a window with the other desktop, the nxclient window dissappears and nothing replaces it. Through the admin window, the session is active, but there's no output.

M'kay, it seems as if this isn't anything new, and after trying this fix, I was able to login to gnome when specifying it in the nxclient prefs. Unfortunately, I still can't get the nxclient to properly run the default X client script. If I ssh as the user after I start the nx session and run DISPLAY=localhost:1000 exec fvwm I'll get fvwm through nx. However, if I try it for openbox, it runs, but doesn't display any of the menus correctly, no letters at all, just funny looking bars where I should see a menu. Does anyone have any ideas regarding this? I figure it's some system setting wrt X messing things up, but this is way over my head.
