VLC not opening m3u files "VLC is unable to open the MRL"

I'm using Arch Linux, i3-gaps as my Window manager and the most recent version of VLC. Whenever I try to open m3u files I get an error message saying "VLC is unable to open the MRL". I tried to play it as an url aswell as downloading it as an m3u file and neither works- The problem doesn't lie in the m3u playlist since it works well on other devices aswell as other applications on this machine. It tells me to look at the log for more details and this is what the log outputs:

As you can see,

separates the different restart attempts and sometimes I get different error messages but the most common one seems to be

adaptive error: Failed to create demuxer (nil) Unknown

Does anyone have an idea on what I can do to continue troubleshooting this and to fix it?

I'm pretty sure that it's the playlist - you're probably trying to play from some streaming service and fail to login?

I use another IPTV player called Hypnotix and the same playlist works on that application but it doesn't work in vlc

Well… do you have to issue credentials for the IPTV service? And which one is it?
Cause it clearly tells VLC to gtfo…
