Linux-zen fails poweroff/reboot

Not sure where to look for a problem with this.

I have Arch installed on my desktop, and my laptop. I have a script on startup on my laptop to ensure that WoL is enabled each boot. My Desktop send the magic packet when it boots. I use Synergy to share the Kb/Mouse between the two, and I have a shutdown and restart script to shutdown/restart both machines whenever I want.

The latest Zen kernels on my laptop are not shutting the laptop down. They quit everything, and there's nothing at the end of journalctl to suggest an unexpected halt. It simply stays powered on.

LTS kernel does not exhibit this behaviour, and works as it (zen) has for months and months (i.e. correctly). I can shutdown from my script to shutdown laptop and desktop, and can power both up just from desktop.

What may have changed in zen to break laptop shutdown.

Feel free to suggest what info you may need.

NB. Both machines are exclusively Arch, and Desktop has no problems. Laptop is an HP something or other. (The reason I have it all triggered from the desktop and using Synergy (and an external monitor) is because the laptop is tucked away out of sight).

Re: Linux-zen fails poweroff/reboot

Which kernel version exactly of linux-zen is the issue present on?  Is the issue present using linux?  Which kernel version introduced the issue?

Re: Linux-zen fails poweroff/reboot

It's present in 5.15.1. I can't testify to when it first appeared (though it's within the last week, so very recent).

Ahh, and I didn't have the vanilla linux kernel installed. Just tested, and it's present with that, too (5.15.1)

It isn't present with linux-lts. (5.10.78)

Re: Linux-zen fails poweroff/reboot

Seems likely the issue was introduced with the 5.15 update.  Can you try 5.14.16.arch1-1 to confirm that?

Working right now, but I'll give it a go when I finish.

For info - zen was working fine until this week, so I expect vanilla 5.14 will, to, but will confirm.

Re: Linux-zen fails poweroff/reboot

Yup - all fine with 5.14.16.arch1-1.

Looks like a 5.15 regression.
