External links not opening on firefox

I've tried to open external links from discord by clicking the link but have notice that it doesn't load in firefox. I've checked the output of `ps aux | grep firefox` which shows

It shows that it's opened the external link but doesn't actually show on my firefox window. It doesn't even load an external window on firefox. I've checked the output of `xdg-settings get default-web-browser` which shows `firefox.desktop` and have checked `/usr/share/applications/firefox.desktop` which shows `Exec=firefox %u` which seems normal. I've gone to the point where i've even deleted everything to do with firefox. Even `.mozilla` and everything to do with firefox and reinstall it but it still has the same issue. I've tried this on other browsers like brave and it loads external links perfectly fine which is very confusing.

Is there any way I could open external links on the same firefox session i'm on

Bump!

I'm running arch with xorg and i3. I experience the same issues on 2 different machines -- laptop and desktop. If firefox is not already running, clicking on a link from an external app causes it to crash. I need to "killall firefox" several times to be able to open it again.

I've tried installing xdg-desktop-portal-gtk. I've tried replacing xdg-utils with mimeo. I've tried replacing the firefox.desktop file with a custom launcher which sleeps 3s before opening firefox. Firefox is my default browser.

Any help? Thanks!

First, we don't 'Bump' here.  Second, this thread is over a year old and a lot of packages have changed in that time.   And, the original poster has not been around for about a year.

I am going to go ahead and close this old thread and invite you to create a new thread that you will own.   If you think this thread relevant, go ahead and link back to it.
